The Walkman has become a new fashion on campus. I had long dreamed of owning a Walkman. The more Walkman owners were on campus, the stronger my desire became. Finally, during one of my monthly visits home, I appealed to my parents to let me buy one, "Dad, mom, I...I want to buy a Walkman... the one for..."
I swallowed the rest of my words. Did I really need to explain what a Walkman was? Surely everybody knew!
At first there was no response from my parents. But my little brother responded eagerly, "Me too!"
Then finally my dad spoke, "what! What is it for? This little stuff breaks down soon after you get it! It's an absolutely useless expense..."
Then, I had an idea. When the summer vacation came, I lied to my parents that I couldn't stay home, because the school had supplementary programs. As a result, my part-time job earned me a handsome Sony Walkman that summer.
I was at home the night before my new school when mom came into my room. She sat on my bed, and patted me on my shoulder. Then she handed me a small parcel. "Take this. Don't tell your father...Now, study hard, okay?" she whispered.
"Mom, how did you...?" I asked.
“It's from my own savings. Your father doesn't know.” I sat alone for a long time with my new Walkman, weeping silently.
I wrapped up the Walkman carefully when I went back to school. I decided to give up my part-time job so that I could study harder for my parents, for my dream. My motivation to study has never been so strong.
On another day, I was studying in my dorm, when a classmate told me that my father was waiting for me downstairs. I ran downstairs anxiously, worried that something had happened at home, as my father had never come to see me at school before. But he handed me a parcel, and stammered, "Hold this...good for study, eh...Everything is fine at home...Don't call us too much, if not necessary..." After asking me about my study and my health, he left.
I sat down and unwrapped the parcel. I was stunned to find a brand new Walkman inside. It was neatly packed, the price tag still attached. Suddenly I broke down in tears.

Finally, the long-awaited flying car is almost here.
AeroMobil, a Slovakian company, plans to start selling its creation, the AeroMobil3. 0, in 2017. The company claims on its site that the vehicle “transforms in seconds from an automobile to an airplane"by using “existing in frastructure created for automobiles and planes."The vehicle is petrol-powered and has wings that fold, which allows it to be parked like a car, though it is nearly 20 feet long.
The company's website features a video where the AeroMobil 3. 0 drives out of a hangar (飞机棚)and goes down a highway, sharing the road with ordinary cars until it arrives at an airstrip. The car then unfolds its wings and takes off from a stretch of grass, rather than a paved tarmac (柏油路面), and flies through the air like any other small airplane.
AeroMobil spokesman Stefan Vadocz said his company hasn't decided on an exact price because it's not ready yet."The prototype is a work in progress," he said in an email. But he said the price would be several hundreds of thousands of euros---somewhere in between a sports car and a light sports aircraft.
The vehicle seats two people---the pilot and a passenger---and its single propeller (螺旋桨) is located at the rear of the plane. The company said the car's top speed on the road is at least 99 mph and while flying it is at least 124 mph. It can fly for 435 miles before running out of fuel. …… 此处隐藏:18902字,全部文档内容请下载后查看。喜欢就下载吧 ……
