湖北民族学院外国语学院简介

湖北民族学院外国语学院组建于2003年，其前身为1979年创建的英语系，是湖北民族学院发展较快，规模较大的学院。现下设英语系、日语系、大学英语教学部。英语、日语为两个本科专业。其中，英语语言文学专业为湖北民族学院重点建设学科。外国语学院拥有现代化的电教设备和丰富的声像资料，资料室藏书种类繁多。

外国语学院已形成较为完整的学科体系，拥有一支业务精湛，结构合理的教师队伍。现有职工近100人。近5年来在《中国翻译》、《当代语言学》、《外国文学》、《国外理论动态》等刊物发表学术论文230余篇；出版学术专著、译著、教材等14部。

学院现有来自全国各地的本、专科学生1800余人。其严谨的教风、良好的学风、先进的办学理念、正确的育人导向保证了人才培养的高质量、高规格。毕业生崇高的品德、渊博的学识是近三年就业率一直保持在97％以上的根本原因。“到外院，去学习，就业市场无人敌”真实地反映了我院学生就业前景。

An Introduction to School of Foreign Languages,

School of Foreign Languages (SFL) at Hubei University for Nationalities was founded in 2003 growing out of the initial Department of English Language and Literature which was set up in 1979. Until now the school has gone through a stable and fast development with a relatively large scale and currently comprises Department of English Language and Literature, Department of Japanese Language and Literature and Department of College English Teaching. The two former departments offer bachelor programs for English and Japanese respectively, among which the specialty of English language and literature is a key discipline of Hubei University for Nationalities. The school has modern electronic-teaching equipments and plenty of audio-video materials. Its reference room boasts a large collection of volumes of foreign languages and literature works.

The school has a complete discipline system with a well-organized team of almost 100 faulty members with outstanding academic, teaching, and research achievements. In the last five years, a handsome number of teachers have published 14 academic books, translation books and textbooks, more than 230 academic papers in Chinese Translators Journal, Contemporary Linguistics, Foreign Literature Studies, Foreign Theoretical Trends and other academic publications.

Currently the school has a total enrolment of 1,800 undergraduate students and junior college students from all over the country. Its rigorous teaching spirits, good academic atmosphere, advanced schooling concept and correct education direction ensure the personnel training in a high-level and high-grade standard. So the

graduates from the school have been well received and highly valued by their employers. The employment rate stays over 97% in the last three years and its outlook can be truly reflected by the slogan: “Go to SFL for language learning, impossible turns to be nothing”.

With the deepening of reform and opening-up, School of Foreign Languages is taking every opportunity to forge an even brighter future by fostering her students to the backbones of the country in the spirit of pursuit and innovation, with her broad mind and world-oriented enthusiasm.
