L/C Amendment & ExtensionPoints for attention: 1.letter of credit is a form of payment in foreign 信用证的修改与展期 trade. In a business deal, the exporter usually requires the importer to open a L/C to enable the exporter to draw on a named抵押协议 bank when he presents his documents. 2.The L/C must state the maximum amount ,the duration of the credit, the term of draft and the shipping documents that are to be sent with the draft.

3.Care must be taken by the exporter 与……一致 in scrutinizing the credit to see if all the terms and conditions in the L/C can be complied with the contract and if not, amendments should be made well before shipment. Otherwise, the exporter must run the risk of his draft dishonored by the bank.

4.When the seller finds that there are some discrepancies in the L/C, the seller should send an advice to the buyer, asking him to make an 不一致，不符合 amendment. Sometimes an unexpected situation with regard to supply, shipment, etc may arise. In this case, an amendment to the original L/C will also be required.

5.Not only can the seller ask for amendment to an L/C, but the buyer can ask for amendment if he finds something in the L/C that needs to be altered. 开证行 The usual procedure is that the buyer should first obtain consent from the seller and then instruct the opening bank to amend the L/C. The request for L/C amendment is usually made by telex, cable, or fax.
