Scientists should be responsible for the negative impacts of their

discoveries

The past decades has witnessed a phenomenon that our society has made enormous progress. And with the rapid steps of the development of science, influence of negative side also emerged.

The debate whether scientists are responsible for the negative impact made by the discoveries or not divides us into vocal opposing camps. From my perspective, it is unfair for scientists to take these responsibilities. It is true that scientists discover the new technology, but it is the government or other users who put these results into practice. The original intention of creation is to let human beings lead a better life. However, there have always been some people using these technologies for their own interests.

For instance, clone technology is an advantage in producing food, drug and it is a effective way to maintain endangered animals, but the shifted cloned humans for laboring or something. This behavior not only involved moral element, but also brought huge problems to our society. Fortunately, government has now laid down the laws to forbid human cloning. We can see that the advantages or disadvantages are not all depending on the scientists but, to a large extent, are depending on the government regulation.

Accordingly, scientists need not take the responsibilities. If so, our world will stop progressing. As long as we take good use of a technology in an appropriate way, there will be a better tomorrow.
