又如：第三单元A部分：学习过去时动词的规则变化同样也可以用让学生找出规律的方式进行。教师在黑板上贴出两个关键性的时间短语on the weekend和last weekend然后再向学生介绍自己平时周末做过的一些活动和上周的活动。如：

I usually clean the bedroom on the weekend.

Last weekend I cleaned the bedroom.

I usually visit my grandparents on the weekend.

Last weekend I visited my grandparents.

依此类推，分别把动词词组和相应词组的过去式贴在黑板上，让学生找出规律。

on the weekend last weekend

clean the bedroom cleaned the bedroom

visit my grandparents visited my grandparents

watch TV watched TV

wash clothes washed clothes

play football played football

当学生找出规律以后，教师略加指导，示范“-ed”的发音，并在规定的时间内让学生利用发音规律拼读巧记。整个过程，学生觉得是他们自己学会的知识。当教到动词的不规则变化时也可以充分发挥学生的作用。
