When y ou answ er, y ou w ant to sound ambitious enough to be motiv ated to do a good job, but not too ambitious in case y our inter v iew ers think y o u're onl y using this job as a stepping stone to something bette r.
I can be successful in this job and taken on additional respo nsibilities and be co nsidered suitable for promotion.
* H ow does this job fit into your car eer plans?
This is a similar job interv iew question to the one abov e really, except that it looks bey ond fiv e years. Be realistic. You might say something like this if y ou're going for a middle-management positio n:
"My ambition is to lead a department and be inv olv ed in strategic decision-making at a senior lev el. I expect the role I'm apply ing for to giv e me more experience of leading and some intro ductio n to strategy so that I'm ready for a senior role in a few yea rs time".

Avoid say ing further than y ou are now! It's better to show y ou've met or exceeded y our ambitions than fallen short of them. T ell the interv iew ers that y ou are happy w ith y our life and career, but are looking fo r more challenge as y ou like to stretch y ourself to achiev e more.
